This is a fun and popular class that practices hammering techniques on wire. It’s a great introduction to jewelry making because it covers several wire manipulation techniques. You’ll go home with two pairs of earrings and a hammered pendant on leather with a hand-made clasp. Plus, you’ll have a better grasp of important wire fundamentals.

OCT 4, Saturday, 9am - 1pm

Learn three techniques in one project! First we'll explore various fold-forming techniques to create texture in metal. This includes the use of a torch. Then we'll learn how to rivet the textured sheet to a base (a "cold-connection") that we form into a gorgeous copper cuff. Everyone's piece will turn out different and you can choose what size to make. These fascinating cuff bracelets look a lot more complicated than they are and will open you up to lots of ideas to try! NOV 1, Saturday, 9am - 1pm

Wow. It looks impossible but making this rope chain is actually pretty easy. We'll knit, or weave, wire into a loose pattern and then learn how to draw it down into a smaller, longer, compact rope. Also learn lots of ways to finish your piece.

NOV 8, Saturday, 9am - 1pm

Take the mystery out of copper etching! This class covers etching basics, safety with chemicals, and methods for transferring hand-drawn or digital images onto copper. Etching allows you to add texture and designs to your work. No jewelry experience required. Make pendants, earrings or possibly a cuff bracelet. The photos show previous student work.

DEC 6 & 7 Saturday and Sunday, 9am - 4pm

Let’s learn to make soldered jewelry! Over the course of two seven-hour days (with lunch breaks!), we will work through introductory information and safety, three separate jewelry projects, and end with some open time for follow-up, finishing, and free-design. We learn to use a torch for soldering, but so much more: ring sizing, stone setting, texturing, finishing, oxidizing, sawing and other techniques will be covered.

The “kit” cost will be an estimate and may change depending on choices you make during the workshop. The pictures are a close representation to what we will make, but the final product is subject to change.
