Let’s learn to make soldered jewelry! Over the course of two six-hour days (with lunch breaks!), we will work through introductory information and safety, two jewelry projects, and end with some open time for follow-up, finishing, and free-design. We learn to use a torch for soldering, but so much more: ring sizing, stone setting, texturing, finishing, oxidizing, sawing and other techniques will be covered.
The “kit” cost will be an estimate and may change depending on choices you make during the workshop. The pictures are a close representation to what we will make, but the final product is subject to change.

Develop your wire-fabrication and basic torch skills while you create this rustic but contemporary link. We will focus on making the hinge and then develop that component into a necklace. We will also oxidize with Liver of Sulfur of desired.

These versatile earrings are not just good-looking, they are also fun and easy to make! This project offers a chance to practice many foundational bench skills and soldering techniques. You will saw, file, texture, solder, oxidize, finish, do wire-work and stone setting.
Level II Metalworking ("Intro to Soldering" is required first)

Use square and half-round wire to wrap a stone or glass cabochon into a pendant. Learn basic wrap skills of binding square wire and embellishment of your piece. Explore how these basic skills can translate into a myriad of designs.

Spirals! With this project, you’ll manipulate silver into a deep spiral pattern and create a ring that really stands out. The depth of the spiral is interesting and offers a great contrast between the oxidized black and bright polished silver. You will get a chance to learn more about ring making and some out-of-the-box bench skills.

Everyone wants to set stones! Over the course of two six-hour days (with lunch breaks!), we will become familiar with bezel setting techniques. This class involves a thorough explanation of bezel setting, including information about unusual or difficult setting situations. We will finish two projects, the first is more structured for a solid skills foundation. The second project is more personal - you get to make (nearly) anything you want!

Textured half-circles with gemstone accents drop from a hammered stem creating an unusual but feminine pendulum earring. We learn texturing techniques including the using a rolling mill and various hammers, simple bezel setting, seam soldering, and sweat soldering.

This is a fun and popular class that practices hammering techniques on wire. It’s a great introduction to jewelry making because it covers several wire manipulation techniques. You’ll go home with two pairs of earrings and a hammered pendant on leather with a hand-made clasp. Plus, you’ll have a better grasp of important wire fundamentals.
